That was already in my plans, Blue. I'm looking at next April now and haven't yet decided on what type of tree it will be. I'd like for it to be fast growing so I'm thinking something in the line of a red maple or an evergreen. You know how Missouri Springs go.

My sympathy to your friend, @Alyssa-Bee. And please do. About the only way you will be able to know what is going on is with a necropsy at this point in time. They didn't know for certain what was wrong with our Sid until they did an MRI on her and found the growths. Pythiosis or Swamp Cancer...

Update: It has been 6 months since we lost our Sidney. I still miss her and grieve for her but now I can smile when I think of her and not break into tears. Her sister Rocki is just like her and a bit of a bossy boots and when she is bossing around one of her brothers I ask her if she is...

Thank you @KelseyBoxer and @Hilltop Flock. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. The last week has been busy here. We had to take down half of the back yard fence so my husband could get our tractor in and use the bucket to bulldoze the dirt into the lagoon and fill it. It was a big job that he...

Thank you so much for the kind words, Blue. It's been 5 weeks today since we lost our Sidney. We miss her terribly but her brothers and sissy have been tremendous comforts for us. We also finished filling in the lagoon which we feel was the source of the infestation that made her sick and...

Our UPS delivery guy has a blue heeler that is 19 years old close to 20 and still going strong so 8 is a kid in ACD years. We had a blue heeler, Dingo that we lost at the age of 10 to Degenerative Myelopathy. He was a character. Didn't know an enemy, everyone was his friend. He taught our two...

Thank you Homesteader. Aren't Heelers amazing dogs? Smart, stubborn, funny, infuriating, and that is there good points, LOL. Yesterday, One of Sid's brothers, Diesel wanted to go for a run. He literally looked around the corner to see his brother standing in the doggy door half in and half...

OMG @cassie that just totally sux! We started to feel like we knew about half the staff at the small animal hospital at MIZZOU. Geeze, every time the phone rang we were talking to a different doctor that was laying out test plans and what they would have to do if Sid went to surgery. They were...

Thank you @cassie. If you have dogs or cats in your life, spread the word to your vet when you see them. It's out there and it's killing our pets!

:hugs :love Thank you. I'm sitting her fighting back tears. It's been almost a month now. Don't blame yourself, either. We can't anticipate everything. I had a mini Schnauzer who went blind. He hid it until I moved the furniture one day. turned out he had Degenerative Retinopathy. Genetic...

Thankyou @NightingaleJen. I thought you all would like to see a picture of her in better times so there is a face associated with her story. This is our angel, Sidney.

Thank you @Everose. Problem is that the majority of vets unless they have encountered it, have never heard of it. Amazing huh! I want people to be aware so if their dog starts uncontrollable vomiting or losing weight for no reason they can ask their vet about Pythiosis.

Thank you @FuzzyOwlFeet. It was unheard of to us until it happened to Sidney. I'm hoping that spreading the word will make people more aware of Pythiosis.

Hi everyone. Some here on BYC are aware of the story behind our 5 Red Heelers. We rescued them when they were 3 months old from an Amish puppy mill. At first we intended to rehome them to loving homes but instantly fell in love with them and decided to keep them. The first of the year they...
