    No air cell?

I had to take a hiatus to go lambing for a bit - now we're done with that, I'm back to birds! LOL.... I had the same thing happen, huge saddles in a few of the first batch. This current group, in lockdown, didn't have much of that... I have 8 in there now, but I think only 2-3 looked viable at...

    No air cell?

The cabinet bator sold . I knew it would, it was just a gorgeous piece of equipment history..... I'm not sure how many it held - a whole bunch! Even Emu eggs! Well, you're doing better than I am! 7 of 18 is way better than 2 or 3 of 19 I candled everything last night (day 9) and only saw 1...

    No air cell?

Eeewww! That has to be an unmistakable odor! I candled a few eggs last night, about 4 or 5 out of the 19. I didn't see anything encouraging, so I quit after that! I think I'll just have to get live birds in the spring We have high winds the next few days and the threat of a storm of...

    No air cell?

The first one I built would hold about 36, but this coolerbator is narrow and I had to trim the nests off one end, so I think the most I can get in there now is about 30..... I've been keeping my eyes open for a good deal on an old cabinet

    No air cell?

Yeah my cartons get in the way too, I actually trimmed mine down just a bit.... I get fewer eggs in, but I'm not continually incubating or incubating large numbers - at least not yet! LOL

    No air cell?

Can you leave them in the carton, instead of laying them flat? It might be more helpful.... I would, until day 14.... that's just me tho...

    No air cell?

I have mixed feelings about not turning for the first few days....I think I disagree with the idea, but not out of experience, just reasoning....It seems to me, if the germ is good, the egg will begin to develop during incubation, regardless of the position or condition of the air cell. And, as...

    No air cell?

Last night I stayed up really late reading this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1037110/incubating-shipped-eggs . It was really good, and encouraging for those of us who've experience a "catastrophic" hatching disaster!

    No air cell?

I sort of figured you knew that , I'm the same way - I keep rereading Sally's 101 page, and each time I catch something I missed the first go around...lots of eggsperience on there.... Keep us posted on your progress!

    No air cell?

You'll see more with a real flashlight or candler , LOL... but yes, I just got some ebay eggs too and some of them I can't really see the air cell. - Which, I've heard, is a good sign that the eggs are fresh....They have a smaller air cell. I can't tell for certain in some of the pics, but it...
