I do not keep roosters that I: Need to be ready to defend myself. Can't pick up the hens. (My hens are used to being picked up, they don't squawk.) Can't pick up and handle readily.- nuthatched

It sometimes works if they're aren't very aggressive but if they are at it with a vengeance, off he goes. If by friendly your friendly means a coddled rooster, he may be too imprinted on people.- nuthatched
