Wow, those are both very interesting newspaper clippings -- in very different ways, I must add. Have you an idea of when they are from?

Very nice! I have a vintage Beatrix Potter book as well, though it is a little bit newer than the ones you have, being a reprint edition published in the early '50's. I haven't actually read it yet.

Those look very nice! I love the little flowers on that pattern, and I hope you are able to find matching bowls and glasses sometime soon. :)

Those bears are adorable! :love I love their bright orange eyes, and their hats and boots on the trio. The coats are so detailed too. Thank you for sharing!

Wow! Yes, it is amazing how long those things last and how dependable they are. I was flipping through a reprint 1897 Sears catalog the other day, and came across the cookware, which include waffle and pancake irons. The design for the latter was quite interesting and seemed like it would be...

Do you have any favorites of the things you have collected so far? :) It sounds wonderful to have so many old buildings, farmhouses especially, surrounding you. And how nice that the feed and hardware store is being restored! Is it going to be used for display/educational purposes or something...

I thought I would feature an artwork today. This oil painting intrigues me. They call it, very suitably, "Still Life with Cheeses, Almonds, and Pretzels." The artist was Dutch painter Clara Peeters, and it was painted in 1615 (!). The detail and precision is just incredible. Look very closely...

Thought I would feature something a little bit different today. I have had fun learning The Madison Time using Youtube over the last couple of days. Here are the videos I used to do so: 1) Instructional video - teaches the steps one by one 2) Performance by the JivingCats - I really like their...

Since we were talking a bit about cookbooks, I thought I would feature a food-related song today. Here are several versions of "Shoo Fly Pie And Apple Pan Dowdy." Music is by Guy Wood, lyrics by Sammy Gallop. It was published in 1945. 1. Dinah Shore 1.5. Dinah Shore (video) 2. June Christy...
