    As for height, I'd say 'tall enough for you to walk around without bumping your head'. Seriously The only disadvantage I can see to a soccer-goal net (or deer netting, or fruit-tree netting, etc) is that a fox or raccoon that climbs up your fence will probably have little trouble chewing...
