I built mine with cement block my neighbor gave me. After the blocks were laid I covered the inside with cement and sand mixed with a liquid latex. After this dried I painted the inside with drylok extra. I also covered the outside with sand and cement. I built a waterfall by building a shallow...
I have a 2000 gallon pond with some koi and a few other fish. It pretty much takes care of itself and the koi are getting huge. After a couple of years and some water dye I can even see them now.

Have you tried a salt dip? It is kinda drastic but sometimes it works. Just dip them in some salt water for a few seconds. But it should be used as a last resort.
I can fully understand the problems with ice. I used to live in northern Indiana.
I get all my plants local except the water Lilly. The problem I have is the fact that I can't gather any of the submerged plants that used to be so common up north. But I have gathered some arrowheads (not...
Do you have any plants in the pond? I can't seem to keep the population down.
We may get a little ice now and then but if I keep the water moving it won't freeze solid. We never get ice more than a couple inches thick and that is rare. It is gone by mid-day.
Here in Alabama I don't bring my fish in during winter. We get very little ice and I have way too many to take inside.
I have channel catfish and bluegill along with my goldfish and Koi. I will add some minnows this winter for fish food because they don't eat enough floating food when the...
Very nice! It is a good thing they are still moving.
I always run my finger across the glass when I buy them. If they don't follow my finger I pass them up.
I seem to notice at least one platy in there....correct?
My ponds are not that big. I have three fish ponds and one for just plants. One is 2,000 gallons and the other two 1,500 gallons.
I love guppies and angelfish. As soon as I can find a tank at the local thrift store I may acquire some.
I have outside ponds and I have an abundance of goldfish. I also have bluegill, catfish, and koi.
They stay outside year round. The catfish are just about big enough to eat. I have over three hundred of them.
I don't have a count on the rest because they multiply so fast (the goldfish...
It takes real skill to have a good looking fresh water tank with live plants and real skill to keep a good looking salt water tank with live rock and fish.
Kudos.
I would love to set up two tanks in the house. One with freshwater angels and the other one as a guppy display tank.
Sorry about so much pond talk but I get obsessed.
We get some ice now and then during the winter but it is always gone by the afternoon. All my ponds are just outside fish tanks really.
I just started a small worm farm for a little dietary variety but I soon discovered I am gonna need a lot more worms.
I can get bags of pond food (32%...
I have 5 baby koi in my shed with heat at 60 degrees f. and I too am waiting for warmer weather.
I have one small butterfly (white and red) that shows some promise. I have two bigger koi in another pond near the house that are about 16 inches long but I can't catch them. This time of year...
I love my goldfish and some are pretty big.
They are really nice as a pond fish. They keep very well all year long. I have also learned the a deeper pond helps develop the muscles they use to swim up and down and it gives a better looking fish.
We did pebble mosaics around the outside of the pond and it took a long time to build.
I just had to post a couple of pics just to compete with some of the fine tanks I have seen here. The pictures were taken before the pond was finished. These ended up with a yellow background and my wife...
Wait a minute now...Goldfish and koi are cool!!!
I built a pond just for them. This is a picture of it "in process" and it holds about 2,000 gallons. I will also add channel cat and bluegill. I also have another pond on the side that holds 1,000 gallons.
I have some real pretty Sarrassa...
