Stunning birds, wish to have that quality one day.

I am new to this I just got myself two pairs of adult birds, one of the hen layed an egg but it broke and the pair got the taste of it. What kind of nest box should I put in? like size wise? how wide and deep? do I need to have the top covered? thanks
