Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

Sounds like a good idea. Fox trap is set tonight -- after three nights of gaining its trust. Crossing my fingers!

Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

50,000 volts?!? I wish!! Ours is only 7,000. Where can I get a game camera? Would TSC or Cabelas sell something useful? Or maybe Amazon? We live in a residential suburb of Hartford, so there isn't a ton of shopping options when it comes to hunting/farming gear close by.

Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

I would love one, but have neither the time nor the money to train another dog. And our Wheaten would be useless. :)

Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

Thanks for your input. I think fortifying the gate (and underneath it) will be our weekend project. A friend offered us two alpaca. I know llamas have been used to guard livestock, but I've read mixed reviews of alpaca doing the same. Anyone have experience with them?

Thank you. Excellent idea. I will propose it to my husband, who does all the electrical maneuvering.

Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

Thank you Ridgerunner! You are the first to answer my actual question. The sill/ramp is an excellent idea. I am not a gun proponent at all, but in this case I'll do just about anything to take out this fox/foxes. It's the first time I've ever seriously considered hanging a piece of taxidermy. :)

Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

I wish that were possible but it's would be too expensive to build a structure large enough to contain our 50 or so hens 24/7. There must be a way to allow them to free range safely during the day. As I mentioned earlier, they are locked up in the barn from before sunset until a few hours...

Foxes and Electric Fencing? Help PLEASE!

Our fox issues have been keeping me up at night. Over the last three months we've had two fox raids, with a grand total of 12 hens lost. After the first attack which killed 12 on Easter Sunday, we installed an 8-strand electric fence around an acre of pasture and the barn. Everyone is locked...
