Is there a way to load a video? I didn't take a picture of my friend's bird, I just videoed what she was doing. She was stretching up her neck with her mouth open. I think I saw a string of mucous. He got 10 from someone this weekend.

Okay.

Sometimes chickens stretch their necks up when swallowing after eating fast, and sometimes they spit-up water if they drank a lot and lean over.
They also sometimes do it when suffering from an impacted crop (treatable), trouble breathing (can be treatable), wet pox, or gapeworms (treatable).

Ok I'm thinking it may be gape worms so I'm going to try to treat for that. Thank you!!

Get a fecal sample tested at a vet first to verify if it's gapeworm. If you dont you'll be wasting money. Gapeworm are rare in chickens.

Well I work at a vet and none of us know what a gape worm oocyst looks like. We are dogs and cats only. So what would you treat for? Could I not treat for worms anyway?

It doesn't appear to be wet pox or sour crop either. Thanks for the suggestions so I could look into them. She and two others are rattling in their chest. One of them sneezed. I'm thinking we need to treat with Tylan, which I will pick up tomorrow. These are not my chickens, they are a friends so I have to go over there to look at them. I come home and throw all my clothes and shoes in the washer and take a shower though! Don't want to give it to my girls!!! Thanks dawg for the picture. I did look for it online but never found a good picture. And we do not have many resources for livestock in a dog and cat urban clinic!
