Hi I am 13 and I am doing showmanship for the first time in a 4h county fair and have no idea what to expect! Has anyone done this kind of thing before and help me out with what I will have to do. I am showing a three month old silkie and I'm not even sure what gender yet! So if anyone could tell me how to prepare and what will go on during judging I would appreciate it. Thanks guys!

Hello! I am 14 and have only done showmanship once but its not as scary as you'd think. What you have to do depends on your level, I think you would be an intermediate like I am (assuming your 4H works like mine does and separates into groups) and you will have to learn how to 'show your bird such as showing the face, legs, wing and face. Now that is the worst part over. Otherwise its just making sure your bird stays on the table and holds still. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I may be able to help ^^

Hello all I really need some help. Have standard Cochin that shows at fair but have some issues with tail feathers separating at the end from brooding how can I repair the feathers for showmanship?

Sorry the reply is so late. However, in future shows you can use some conditioner and rub it on the feathers so they stick together.
