Looking for a breeder so I can get my hands on these beautiful birds! I will be looking to buy towards the end of the year. Any tips? No hatchery has this variety that I can tell.

I am working on re-creating silver-based Welsummers here in the US. I have some silver cockerels that are 7/8 Welsummer and will be crossing those back to gold (regular) Welsummer hens this fall to get silvers of both sexes that are 15/16 Welsummer. How close these will be to the silver duckwings of the UK, I don't know yet, but a silver WS that is 15/16 pure must be getting close (at least I tell myself that, LOL).
I am also working on a barred (Crele) Welsummer, or Welbar, that should be strongly autosexing. So far the hens are looking a lot like Bielefelders, but lay eggs as dark as pure Welsummers.
I am in PA, so this might not be a lot of help in locating stock you can buy, but even if they are not directly imported by someone, we will have good ones here eventually, as I suspect others are doing the same thing, creating multiple strains to choose from (and cross to minimize inbreeding).
I perfected Welbars several years ago and have been selling them in both gold and silver. I get both colors from a mixed pen. Technically, you could call Welbars "Crele Welsummers", so the real color of the silvers is not Silver Duckwing, but Silver Crele. Here is a pic of one of the silver pullets. How is the silver duckwing Welsummer project coming along?
I know this is a very old post, so...
