Bought this little guy today. Is he male or female? The color of the cere is throwing me off. Also what's his color morph called?

He's a real pretty pastel color. Any idea?

Your parakeet still looks a little young (you can see the bars on the head) bars on the head mean that the parakeet is still quite young. I think your parakeet looks like a male and the cere will darken with blue if he is a male. But you are right to have doubts about it because there's always a possibility that it could be the opposite gender.

I know your question is a couple years old, but for those looking for how to sex a young parakeet, it's actually really simple. First, I will address the color. When using a flash, it sometimes distorts the birds true colors. The first picture looks like a seafoam clearwing. The other two pictures look like a sky blue clearwing. If it's green, it's seafoam. If it's blue, it's sky blue. As far as whether it's male or female, look at how thick and blue and purple the cere is. It's a male. Females ceres are usually flatter and smoother. I know all my babies' sexes by the time they're 6 weeks old. It's not hard. It just takes a little experience.
