I have two 10 week old red rock hens that I need to integrate with four 3 year old red Sussex hens.

Two of the red Sussex seem to be aggressive towards chicks, pecking then and even ripping out feathers when we get them together in the yard.

We have had the chicks staying in a dog crate inside the coop so hey can get used to each other, but those two cranky hens go after he babes when we let them all out... So I am worried.

Advice?

Because of the attacks your seeing from your older hens you may want to keep the chicks in a cage for no less than 1 week. I also just recently got 10 weeks olds and they have been away from the older ones for about 2 weeks and are just now stating to be able to integrate in with my 3 older banties. In the past I have had to keep some separated for as long as a month but that was when I had a larger flock and the babies were only 5 weeks. After a while it will all depend on when your current hens start to accept them
(not pecking at them or chasing them every time you turn around). The first few days that they do accept them DO NOT leave them with the adults at night without their cage or you could have injured or dead babies, after a few days if the hens look to be doing fine with them you can add the babies at night. That's all I know at the moment and hope this will help
