I'm really enjoying this site and have been lurking for a while. I finally found a question I can't find the answer to. I just got some quail today. Unfortunately, I don't think they were treated the best. And wanted to cover all of my basics but I can't seem to find what color/texture their poop should be? Seems like if you look at their poop then you can tell certain things...but if you don't know how it's supposed to look it makes it hard.

Sorry for a stupid question. Just trying to help my birds.

Wet but still generally round in shape (until it's been squished) should be mostly brown with some white (urate). Color will vary based on diet, consistency less so and is a little more important when it comes to diagnosis.

Like Don says it can vary, but if you are observant you may be able to tell if things get a little "off". We have very high heat this time of year so my quails' droppings tend to be more watery because they do drink more water in the hottest part of the day. If you give them greens or other veggies that can change the color (beets will make them poop pink to red!). Get to know your birds and what is normal for your situation.
