y favorite little hen buttons ist well and I don't know what to do...symptoms, yesterday morning she was lying in the dust, I picked her up realizing she wasn't enjoying herself bathing... she was only walking on one leg, no sign of injury and anting, mouth open facing forward.. I had some vetmedin my last hen had before she passed and gave her some, hasn't made any difference.. shes still panting and sitting there... she will hop to get away if you try to pick her up and she tried to use her useless let to scratch her head without realising it wasn't doing it...shes not eating or drinking, just panting. ive given water but shes not getting any brighter
please help with something someone..this is day two

ELECTROLYTES! Get it at your local feed store ASAP! Its a powder you mix in their water. If you can get a dog cage or something like it, anything to confine her in small area with no escape. Wrap her in a towel and put her electrolyte water and food in there. Also get a spray bottle or mister's and spray her down every so often. And keep her in shade. If there is no progress I recommend taking her to a vet!

thank you for answering, will the pharmacy have them, I have some but theyre orange flavor.. is that's also whats causing her leg to be un usable

Orange flavor is fine. I had a rooster do the same exact thing. Its like when you are dehydrated and you cant walk without feeling dizzy. All she is is dehydrated. The pharmacy might have it but you need them specifically for birds so you would have better luck finding it at pet club or the stock shop or something.

just given her some vitamins for birds poly-tonine a complete I found in cupboard with water brought her in put her in dog crate in air cond basement, off to chemist now to get elecrolytes for kids to ive her asap. many many thanks..,,

got electrolytes, held her beak open and syringed 5 mls in total , will try again in half hour,, little and often ok? cause shes not liking this one bit. hope this works for her..

Thats exactly what I had to do. Once she gets her energy back she will do it on her own and create a habit out of it. Dont release her until 3 days of her being normal. If you have other chickens I recommend giving them some electrolytes too.

she seems a bit brighter this morning, but still not drinking on her own, gave her 2 teaspoons by syringe of electros, try again in an hour..

shes just eaten a teaspoon of watermelon.. that's huge improvement from yesterday ...thanks again. I think you've saved my favorite hen :) buttons..
