Just thought this was funny when I got my new chickens and ducks Saturday my husband has built a massive coop with a chicken roosting area upstairs and a duck shelter down at the far end I put the ducks in first in their shelter then proceeded to clip wings for chickens and ring them and one by one put them in their roosting area, my theory behind this was the chickens would have to go down the ramp and the ducks come out of their shelter to meet each other this worked well. Chickens came down first then after another half hour ducks came out it scared the chickens to death ha ha total chaos for a few minutes I thought that was the end of it but although they seem to be living together totally happy the ducks seem to frighten the chickens, the ducks appear very protective of there water pond out of the coop and this morning I observed a chicken climbing up the pond ramp looking in the water and one of the ducks set chase at the chicken the chicken went to run fell off the ramp and into the water ha ha
if they encroach to close to them and they don't want them there they send them packing how funny
