Hello I think I have finally found out what my rooster has, slipped Achilles Tendon, We thought maybe he was born with it and it gradually got worse. My question is if anyone knows the answer is He is 5 mths old, is it to late to try and put it back in place or work with him to make it better? He is eating and drinking, hops around ok and is sweet as can be, when I push his leg up it don't hurt him or anything, if anyone can help that would be great! Thanks

If he has slipped tendon, there's nothing that can be done for him. I have had several, and actually took one to an avian veterinarian who told me that she'd done several surgeries on parrots to correct it, and it very rarely works (and it's not an inexpensive surgery). Honestly, the best thing to do for him would be to put him down or have someone do it for you if you cannot. He'll never be able to do his "roosterly duties" or protect the flock, which is what roosters are hatched for. I can't think he'd have a happy life hobbling around...I'm very sorry.

I was able to correct it on two that were really young, but I was not able to correct it on three that I rescued from the feed store. I think that once the hock becomes too swollen, even surgery is not an option.

Can you post pictures of the hock?

Did your''s do ok? I am attached so I don't want to put him down :( But I did take some pictures of it.
