Are a Silver Leghorn and a Cream Legbar the same thing?

Hi,
ANy info on this would be helpful. Last March I bought two chickens from a farm a few miles from my house. I got the impression that they had ordered 100+ chicks from a hatchery, got them up in size a little, and were doubling or tripling their investment. I got a Golden-laced Wyandotte and a Silver Leghorn. (Since McMurray is the only hatchery where you can get Silver Leghorns, I figured this was where they both came from) I paid $5 each.

Well, August rolls around, and the Silver, who is very small, has a full red comb now and a couple days ago, there is a blue egg in the nest box!! Since the Golden hasn't got a full comb yet, I'm pretty sure it was the Silver. But I thought they laid WHITE eggs!

So I google blue egg layers, and came up with the usual Auracana, Easter Eggers, etc. and there is a photo of a Cream Legbar that looks just like my Silver Leghorn.

But they cost $40+ for females. Or can Silver Leghorns lay blue eggs? Or did I just get lucky and pick the Legbar chick sent in the box by mistake? There's not a lot of info on Silver Leghorns out there, and McMurray Hatchery website isn't the greatest, so I don't know about the egg color.

She looks like a Silver Leghorn, she does not have a crest like the Legbar is supposed to. She is also very small, probably around 3 Lbs.

Thanks,
Jen

We need pics to give you a good answer. There are Easter eggers that fool folks into thinking they're gold laced Wyandottes. Pea combs often fool folks about how mature the bird is, as they're not as obvious as straight combs.

Silver Leghorns do lay white eggs. Cream Legbars are a gold-based bird, not silver, and MMM does not carry them.

OK, tomorrow I will get a photo of each and try to post them on here. I had to work today, but my hubby said that the Golden Wyadotte (?) was in the nest box that had the blue egg, but I assumed that she wouldn't be laying yet, as her comb is so small. I will (try to) post pics of both tomorrow.

Maybe she is an EE with a pea comb, and the little one is really a Silver Leghorn! Either way it's so cool, the sky blue egg! I don't care what they are, I only pd $5 for them, and they are so mych fun. I really chose them because they were so close to me and I wanted a variety of feather colors for my little flock.

All my others are brown layers, so it has to be one of these two. Thanks all for the suggestions, check back tomorrow for pics! (I hope!)

I chose them from the flock on this farm, they only had the two types of pullets. I just picked the largest, healthiest looking one from each type and took them home. I wonder if there was a CL in their shipment, but doesn't seem likely since they are so rare and expensive. Probably the other way round, I got an EE with a pea comb marketed as a Golden laced Wyandotte. (Yes, I know you're all wondering, I DID quarantine them for about 3 weeks, but then the little SIlver flew over the fence and joined my flock and the point was moot!) -J-
