No one told me how much I would love them and love watching them.
No one told me a 3 day old duck could dive under the water and swim across a small pool lol. I thought he was going to drown at first and then the others started doing it. Sooooo Fun
No one told me they would grow out of the bathtub in one week. I cannot believe how big they are getting so fast. I can't keep them in the tub anymore it is too small for my 6 ducklings now. I will have something set up much bigger TODAY.
They love love my zucchinis from my garden and mashed peas. They shake with excitement while eating them.

OH THE POOOOOP CLEAN UP lol
OH THE 100 WATER CHANGES A DAY
I love every min of it

Hehe it's amazing how much they impact us in so little time, isn't it? I think my guy put it best when our first call duck hatched while he was out of town. He only said "I dunno if he'll imprint on me, but I sure have imprinted on him". <3

Welcome to the site, by the way!

Sweet baby pic!

May I also add...

No one told me what feels like just 5 minutes is a couple of hours spent watching duck TV.
No one told me of the cute trill/quack sounds they'd make when they find something especially yummy in the yard.
No one told me of this thing called duck/chicken math that causes & justifies the adding of more feathered family members.

It's been a long time for me, but it hasn't changed. I can watch them and just drift off in time as @Debs Flock said. I'll add just a few things...

Nobody told me that watching something root around in the yard would be so entertaining.
Nobody told me that watching them fly around the yard at the end of the workday would make the stress of work melt away.
Nobody told me how to not cringe when they go in mud puddles, but I know it's one of their favorite places to be.
Nobody told me how sad it was going to make me when they stand at the door and look up at me like, "Can we come in with you?"
Nobody told me much of anything worth knowing, other than medical stuff. I learned most of what I know through feeling. If our ducks aren't happy, I'm not happy.

Yeah, a lot of duck ownership is, unfortunately, trial and error. Boy howdy, just ask any one of us duck owners, we got stories, lemme tell ya! But hopefully that's how we learn, and in learning we can give our feathered babies a much happier life.

No one told me that we'd have to custom build 'duck accessible' stairs around the yard because regular stairs are too big for her tiny legs.
No one told me that learning how to speak Duck would be so much harder than learning how to speak Chicken.
No one told me that those beautiful, big, black, soulful eyes would look like they held the secrets to the universe.
No one told me how much I would love the noises she makes when she's eating snacks out of the water bowl.
No one told me that she would have the Super Power to force poop out, at will, if you're holding her when she doesn't want to be held.
No one told me that I would fall so completely in love, in such a short period of time.

Awwww & LOL!!

No one told me it would tickle when a duckling dabbles in the crook of your neck.
No one told me how heart wrenching it would be when I lost my first one.
No one told me that it wouldn't be easier the second time.
No one told me that my ducks would learn the exact pitch and rhythm of quacking to make us feed them sooner!
And I certainly never guessed that they would bite all the flowers off my borage plants-- and the proceed to eat the rest of the leaves and stems, as well!!

That is beautiful, and it made me tear up.

No one told me I would miss the "back it up, back it up, back it up... poop" from the brooder.
No one told me my ducklings would grow up so fast.
No one told me I would get used to a direct glance from a turned head.
No one told me how incredibly soft the bottom of a duck's webs are or how really sharp their claws are.
No one told me how each and every duck in my flock would have a VERY distinct personality.
No one told me flock drama can rival the best soap operas ever devised.
No one told me the absolute joy that having an animal who is normally wary of EVERYTHING walk right up to you, lay down and close their eyes (even for just a few seconds) can bring.
No one told me looking desperately for an answer to see if your little feathered friend is OK or not would lead me repeatedly to the same site with such a great group of people helping other people take care of the birds they love
