Hello to all and thanks for all the great info. We have been using the site for months while preparing for our chicks. We have gotten lots of good and helpful information from the site. From the coop and run, to nutrition and concerns. We thought it was time to join. We are getting our chicks (6-8) this week and are looking forward to raising them. Pics will be coming!

We are getting RI Reds and either Wyandotes or Bard Rocks. They also have some Barnevelders(sp?). I guess we won't know for sure until we get there! These will be our first chickens and we have been anticipating them since we moved to our "farm" last year. I finally finished the coop, so now its time to start our flock. Ha! How many chickens does it take to make a flock?

Lurkers are certainly welcome but we are glad you decided to officially join us! Welcome to the BYC flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) I'm looking forward to seeing your pics when you get your chicks. Two or more birds constitute a flock, so you will have a flock. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your flock.
