Will egg color always be consistant?

So, will my girls always lay the same shade of what ever color they lay? So far I have 4 layers, one who has been skipping days right off the bat, and two who have been consistent daily layers. So far, each of their eggs are exact in color shade, so it's easy to look at it and say "that's Jailbreaker's shade of brown" and "that one is my Jeepers light brown egg". I can hold their egg from 3 days ago up to today's egg and it's a match. Will this ever change, or can I become consistent with knowing which of my 8 hens eggs are whoms just by knowing their egg shade/colors? I know the eggs will gradually get bigger, but I don't know if I can depend on the egg being the same shade of color constantly. I know 3 of my 4 layers right now, caught them and collected their egg very shortly after laying, so there's no confusion. One is still a mystery.. didn't lay yesterday and so far didn't lay today (stinker!) but is there any chance the new layer yesterday could have been my mystery layer and I only have 3 laying? The only thing that tells me no is that the color isn't exact. My new layer from yesterday is closer to a white while my mystery one looks like a creme color.

Shade can change depending on the season or the day, but usually the shape, thickness, and color remains pretty similar. I have had hens that usually lay single colored eggs lay speckled eggs and hens that usually lay normal eggs lay double yolked eggs. However, usually the color is pretty consistent.

I love the picture of your hens!

I do know dark eggs will slowly lighten as the season progresses, so a dark egg layer like a welsummer will lay her darkest eggs at the beginning of the laying cycle.

Okay, cool. So I'll just have to get to know the egg better then just color haha. :p So what's the chance of ?-2 being the same layer as H-1 ?? It's only a day apart and they're too different right? Trying to make sure they are indeed 4 layers and my mystery layer isn't my Hyrule.

Hyrule's egg is bigger today, cool! That mystery layer still hasn't laid either.. it's been like, 3 days. Wth. I keep stalking the bin, I've seen my Jailbreaker, Jeepers and Hyrule lay, but not who ever t his other one is and they don't seem to be on a consistent clock!

With new layers color is pretty consistent but laying pattern may not be. Some girls will start and lay consistently others may lay and not lay again for a few days till they get things lined out. don't go by size because some will lay a large egg one day and then go right back to a small egg the next day.

I've noticed about the size, though my regular layers (Jailbreaker and Jeepers) are consistant in size and color atm, Hyrules has changed in size already. Jailbreakers has gotten slightly bigger over the last 2 weeks, and Jeepers' first egg was pretty good sized and hasn't changed yet. Still can't wait to see what other egg colors I get.. I hope they're not ALL brown :p

Well, surprise surprise.. my "?" egg -IS- [H]yrules egg! I caught her today and yesterday laying, todays egg was a slight pinkish creme color, while yesterday's egg was more of a creme brown color. What a trickster! So I only have 6 layers and I'm awaiting my other 2 to start!
