hi! i just started a thread on favorite chicken breeds and i am also a duck lover so i thought i would do one on duck breeds, too

like the chicken breed one i will list 15 duck breeds and you vote for 1 ( or 2 if you cant make up you mind) and you post which one/ones you voted for and we will see what the favorite breed is!

I picked two: Runner and Cayuga. Both breeds are among my small duck flock of nine that also consists of Mallards, Khaki Campbells, and a Buff. Indigo (Indi), Ebony, and Jade are by far by my favorite girls!

I voted for call and magpie, I owned a magpie drake last year and he was so tame and sweet, he would come up to me and jump on my lap whenever I sat down, I voted for call because I own some and they are so cute! I have owned Cayuga, Swedish, and runner but I like my calls and magpie better :)

Welsh Harlequins have been my favorite thus far. They're beautiful with their light colored plumage with darker markings and I love their dark bills. They also lay like champs if you like the eggs.Mine also happen to be the second quietest breed of duck I've had... next to the muscovies.

Golden phase hen

Golden phase welsh harlequin female moulting as you may be able to tell from her wings.

Whisper

Silver phase drake

I love them, @Adorkable !!!!! How many ducks do you have?

Thankies! I started with 6 but they all turned out to be drakes... they were muscovies, 1 khaki campbell and 2 pekins, so I rehomed those.

Then I ordered a second batch (sexed) of 7 from Metzer Farms. 4 Welshie girls, 1 Welshie drake, 1 cayuga girl, 1 Pekin. I rehomed them all except 2 gold phase Welsh Harlequins. They are a lot of work and we had a huge problem with flies when we had 7 ducks, but I didn't want to be without ducks so I kept Cookie and Whisper. So I only have 2 right now, but I love having them around. They make the cutest little sounds.

Welshies are beautiful! That was a breed on my list, but I ended up getting different ones.
