I have 6 Austarlop's that were hatched 3/21/15 - over the past few weeks I have been getting a bunch of different sizes and colored eggs from my young hens. It seems like when a hen starts laying - the first eggs are small dark brown ones and as they get older the eggs get larger and lighter in color. Is this fairly normal for young 'lorps? Attached is a pic of today's eggs.

What you're seeing is normal. The first eggs are smaller and will increase some in size as the hen's 'plumbing' matures. And eggs can lighten up a bit as the hens progress through their laying cycles.

P.S. Welcome to BYC!
