I bought a Little Giant 9300 a few days ago. Should I go ahead and by the fan or is it not necessary?

Comes down to personal preference. I never had good luck with the LG but did better with the fan. Some people love it and use it with still air. Just realize your temp will be a little higher ... 102 at the top of the eggs.
