Congratulations! It's always nice to hear a happy ending, especially when hawks are involved. Piha is beautiful, is she a specific breed of pigeon?
Hawk scared off pet pigeon - will she come back?

Here she is, happy to be home. I feel so lucky to have found her again!

I'm not sure. I think she has some sort of fancy breed in her lineage because she has light feathering on her feet and toes. Her pattern is apparently either a "red check" or "ash red" (both look like her), which occur in feral flocks - but tend to be rare because it's easier for hawks to see.
Looks like a tumbler etc ringneck or mourning dove mix.
Mr hawk woulda met my dogs and been their dinner guest.. i looove BOPs/raptors, but, they attack pigeons chooks ducks rabbits, n they'll die if dogs get hold of them, legal as can be nothing from me free n clear. mostly only young from round here get after young free ranging pets.. n they get fended of by animals themselves generally.

So glad your beautiful pigeon is home! Btw she looks like a feral pigeon, don't forget that refals are descendent from domesticated population and having feathered feet is very common! She sure is beautiful and with good hands!
