What is this growth on my chick?

This featherless growth appeared on my chick about a week ago. She's 3 1/2 weeks old now. I think she's a golden laced wyandotte. The lump is soft and slightly squishy. It's increased in size about 50-75% in the past week. She's also the the smallest of my 7 chicks (all born the same day, but different breeds).




Does anyone know what it could be or if it's life threatening?

Welcome to BYC phoenixchick. Could it be a peck wound that has become abscessed? Cysts are also common in chickens. Hopefully it will resoves on it's own. How is the chick doing now?
