been lurking for a while now, and like I've seen from many others my first post is out of necessity due to not seeing I can offer a lot in places...
so, I have a barred rock hen that I got with two others that have a rir roo. the crew is from a hatchery (spring hardware store acquisition) and turned six months old this week. they lay about average and have been a joy to learn and grow with. we've expanded to buff's and jerseys and are in deep now ;)
this particular hen I'm writing about has been squatting regularly for about a week, struggles to keep up foraging with her peers and is no longer laying in the nesting boxes. finding eggs on the ground in their coop tractor. yesterday she appeared to have more labored breathing and our peking ducks have begun to bully her :( and the bullying is bad, she just gives up and the roo tries to defend, two against one though.

what do y'all think? any help is appreciated!

Well Hi jt!

Sorry you're having trouble. I know zippo about ducks, but suggest you separate them from the chickens until you can sort this out. Are the chickens and ducks free range? Are they confined? If so, ho many and in what space? Could you copy/paste this post into https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/18/chicken-behaviors-and-egglaying as well?

the rocks have their own tractor, jerseys have a tractor, and the ducks are separate as well. started keeping them separated today for stress and physical healing...
I'll check out that post, thanks!
