I have a 6 week baby silkie that I have been treating for over a week for coccidiosis. It had the real white, thick poop with bright green and he was not eating or drinking. He still will only eat or drink if I force it in his mouth. I have been trying so hard by making him scrambled eggs and oatmeal. I have been mixing his water with the powder Corid and Probiotics.

This evening he can only lay on his side and I am lost.

Any ideas? I really hate putting it out of its misery but I can't let it suffer.

Can you mix the powder Corid 1.5 tsp in 2 tsp or 10 ml of water, and then give the chick 2 drops 2-3 times a day, in addition to what you are giving now? Was the chick vaccinated for Mareks disease? The green poop is a sign of not eating, while the white is urates or urine. If you could keep giving it liquids (not food) throughout the night, it may help to re-hydrate him. The food isn't as important as the water right now, especially if he has coccidiosis. I'm hoping that you can save him.

I am so sorry for you and your bird.

I had similar symptoms with my previous flock, where at first I thought it was coccidiosis because of their runny green/ white feices . After a few weeks of treatement, nothing happened and my flock of 3 birds all slowly started limping and lying on their sides. After extensive research, with heartbreak I discoverd it was Marek's. Try and rule out that possibility first.

I'm going to admit, I am absolutely no expert with chickens, but hopefully this was helpful.

I wish you the best of luck!
