New Member - Emerging Urban Homesteader - Quails!

Thread Starter

Hi Peeps (ahah, though that was funny)

I'm an emerging urban homesteader. I was not raised on a farm or to garden. I'm learning as I got.

I'm here to learn about Quail, since Chickens are not permitted in my area. The more I learn about Quail, the more they seem like they are better then chickens for urban homesteading.

Please feel free to point me in the right direction. I plan to raise them sub-maximum capsity in my garage...once my wife find out I am sure I will get an *** kicking and they will be outside in a tractor or side yard...which is where I plan to put them eventually once I get shelter in my narrow (shaded) side yard.

Take care

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

The Learning Center has a set of articles all about raising quail. They're really interesting (and I don't even have quail):

http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/other-backyard-poultry-ducks-quail-turkeys-geese-etc

There is also a quail forum where you can ask questions, share photos, etc.:

I've always thought it was funny that some places don't allow chickens but they do allow quail. Oh well, as long as you're enjoying them!
