Duck hurt dont know what ia going on!

So my dog went after my one duck the about three days ago he seemed to try and "play" with it by chasing and actually ended up stepping on her. She seemed fine that day but the next day I seen her laying on the ground she won't move other than he head and neck. Nothing seems to be broken she can move her feet I checked her wings and she does great when I put her in the pool. Every time I put her out of the water and on the ground she can't stand when I try and lift her and hold her with her feet on the ground she goes head first. It almost seems like she can keep her balance. I have her seperated with plenty of feed and water with nutrition drench in it. Don't know what's going on?

@crazyducklady23 she may have an internal injury which could be in her back. especially if she was stepped on.. Can you take her to the vet? I know this isn't always feasible If not then keeping her quite and letting her rest maybe you only choice. Letting her have some warm water therapy in your tub might be a better idea instead of the cold water of a pool, but water therapy is a great way to take pressure off injured parts and give them time to build and strengthen muscles that maybe injured. I hope your dog will not get the chance to play rough house with your ducks again..

Thank you for the quick respond! I wouldn't be able to take her to a vet I will definitely try the warm bath. She seems to move around complete fine when she is in the water and is eating and drinking fine it is only when I take her out of the water she goes limp. I'll keep her pended up as well. I know that darn dog I must have not have had the latch on all the way to the duck house and he came in look ing for me. Eh problems of a farm girl!

Out of the blue...but could I be over looking this and could it possibly be an egg bond issue and not from my dog? I looked up some videos of egg bond ducks and they seem to be acting just like her?

Really hard to say, did you actually see your dog step on her? usually if they are egg bound they don't last very long unless they can get it out, and there is always a chance she could have an infection. My Muscovy who was egg bound finally laid her egg after 2 days but she must have had an infection because even though she laid she died.
Have you gently felt down around her vent for an egg? Is she passing anything suspicious looking? still eating good?

I seen him go after her and seen her wings flapping and from the angle I was at he seemed to have had a paw or his chest on her back. She seemed fine that day after the encounter but then the next day couldn't walk. I still have her on her own and she still won't walk. She is has been drinking a lot of water with nutri-drench in it and wasn't eat much at first but today I took the top part of the container off of the food dish (one you use for babies) and she went to town with it. So I don't know if she just could access the food that easy through the small holes or what. I also have some oyster shells mixed in her layer food. I put her in a warm bath lastnight and she swims around completely fine. The only things that are alarming me are 1.) she can't walk or stand by herself - she falls face first, literally, when she tries 2.) Her poop is a dark green and watery 3.) Every time I pick her up if i need to clean her pen out or move her her heart is racing like a freight train 4.) she won't flap her wings but they do not appear to be broken. She also does not show any sign of being in pain at all.

Also, didn't try feeling for the egg just was looking up some stuff and came across it.

The dark green poop maybe because she wasn't eating much keep an eye on that now that she has been eating today.

I don't know this is a puzzle since she is swimming and moving her legs in the water unless she has a back injury and putting her in water takes the pressure off that area.

Keep up the swim time making sure you stay with which I'm sure you do,
Keep up on the Nutri drench
and just give her time. about all you can do unless a vet is feasible.

I really don't think she could be egg bound and still eating and acting pretty normal other than walking.

Tough to figure out what could be going on.

Could be internal injury, could be an infection that has little or nothing to do with an injury, those are the two things that come to mind right off.

@casportpony is pretty good at noticing things from pictures of poop, so if you can upload some pics of that, that may help.

Get her to eat, even if it's just peas or mealworms, or something, in addition to using the Nutri Drench.

I need to head out, will check back in late afternoon.
