How close the the base of feathers can I trim a Polishes Crest?

I don't want to hurt her i tried trimming a little but i just don't know how much I can take off with out hurting her....

She is getting badly picked on and cant find the other polish so ends up by herself all the time or surrounded by the chickens that pick on her. I am about to try to re-home her for her own safety.

she has the largest crest ever! its so hard to find her eyes!

We had to do the same with ours, as long as the feathers aren't in the process of growing, which you would see a sheath covering the base, you can cut them as short as needed, I had to recut mine until I found the best haircut for them, they are molting now so I will have to do it again soon.
Chickens, muscovy ducks, turkeys, donkeys , goats, dogs, fish, parakeets, a parrot, and a cat.

Chickens and dogs are healing to the soul.

I brake for squirrels.

Some of my birds.
