Hello!

So we had our first egg hatch. We have only had one hatch so far though. I was under the impression they NEED to be paired. What do I do if none of the other eggs hatch?

Thanks!!!

No they do not NEED to be paired but live in the wild in female/male single pairs, monogamous. How many eggs did you incubate? Are they past hatch date? How far past?
A single bird can live alone but would be happier with a friend or when chicks a group of friends. Good luck.

A single chick will imprint on humans and think it is human with no other creature to imprint with. It would make a cute pet.

They are a week over due and there are 22 in total

Well buttons can hatch anywhere from day 16 to day 23 and do fine but if they have been in the incubator with the correct temp for 23 days or longer I would give up. Did you have these eggs shipped or are they from another bird you have? Could be they were not fertile. I would crack a few open and see. First listen in a very quiet room for any sounds from the egg. But I highly doubt they are alive. Sorry.

A lone button will be fine as long as you spend time with him and keep him company. They are social birds who feel most comfortable when they have a mate or a buddy, so YOU need to be its buddy and give him snuggles and chit chat.

Same thing happened with my eggs. Only one chick hatched. It has been super interactive with me. It chirps and calls if it hears me nearby. Make sure to check it for paste butt occasionally! :) good luck
