I have a duckling that hatched overnight last night. He was fine when I left for work and fine when my husband checked On him around 2pm, but when I got home after 4pm I could tell right away something was wrong. He was sitting with his head pulled back far along his back, swinging it from side to side. He flings it back so hard he almost falls backwards. We've given him save-a-chick electrolyte and probiotic water with Brewers yeast mixed in, and we've been holding him in our lap the last few hours, holding his head before him in the right position. I've tried massaging his neck a bit. He can stretch it forward if he wants to peck at something, like my shiny phone, but then his head goes right back to where it was. He's completely imprinted on us and doesn't want to be left alone. I sure hope another egg hatches soon so he can have a buddy. Is there anything else we should be doing? I'll try to post a pic in a bit here.

He's a little improved today. He can stand and walk, albeit fairly wobbly. He still flings his head back and flips when he's excited or scared by himself in the brooder. But when we hold him and let him walk on a towel, he stands and walks, very straight and stiff. He stands straight like a runner, and holds his head back farther than he should, but it's improvement. Im going to the store today to buy some straight vitamin e and niacin tablets, and to look for that polvisol whatever it's called stuff, lol. I sure hope another one hatches soon. I hate leaving him alone. A bad thing has happened tho; I got attached to him :( I can't help it, lol. My husband named him Dickie, and the little guy loves to snuggle ink our necks and give us duck kisses and bite at the fun colors on my phone screen. Sure hope this guys makes it

He's a little sniffly, looks like clear water coming out of his nares. I have apple cider vinegar to put in his water, but there's already two packs of vitamin and Brewers yeast in it. It gonna taste nasty lol

Maybe offer another source of water with some ACV in it and let him use both. but your going to have to be very careful with that water that he doesn't fall in and can't get out. In his current condition. I am glad to hear some progress is being made. The Poly Vi Sol is given straight into the mouth via a small needle less syringe or child's med dropper just inside the bill. No iron in it.

Sounds like you have a new baby. love it. does Dickie have any stuffed animals to cuddle with and also a non breakable mirror both will help when you can't be with him.. I had a big stuffed animal with my only duckling and he would climb under it and snuggle with the smaller stuffed I gave him.

I'll put a stuffed animal in there and a mirror. I hate to leave him and the hatching eggs but I have to take my husband in to the ER today. He hurt his ankle and it looks pretty bad. I'll put a little food in the brooder too. Probably gonna have to be gone for a while today :(

No food with out water. use a small plastic container and cut a small hole in the top just large enough for the little one to stick his head in for water. making sure he can get it in and out with out getting stuck .No one you can call to come and check on this lil one?

So sorry about your Husband I hope it's not serious.
