Hello. I have been reading and relying on BYC for a while now but just decided to join up. My husband purchased our first chicks from a feed store in Little Rock, Arkansas in March 2012. I raised them in our backyard in Carrollton, TX for two years before we moved to Alexander, Arkansas in 2014. We now live on 5 acres with a large pond with catfish, bluegill, bass and some huge grass carp and lots of trees. We brought the remaining 2 girls from Carrollton in January 2015 and added 2 ducks , 8 more girl chicks and 10 bonus boys in late January. We added 15 guineas in July, 4 babies from a farm store in August and 2 laying White Leghorns from 4H kids displaying at the county fair. One of the bonus "boys" turned out to be a girl. hehe. Currently have the 2 "big" girls from Carrollton, 7 "little" girls from January, our "bonus" girl, 2 boys from January, the 2 White Leghorns, the 4 babies and 15 guineas and 2 goats. We are letting them free roam our property but we lock them in the coop at night. I will be posting a couple of questions later on our current status.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) I was born in Hot Springs, AR, and raised in Greenville, TX, and am very familiar with both the areas where you lived. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.
