Hello,
I had made a previous post about my rooster Mickey. He is about 7 yrs old and the family favorite. He has some sort of respiratory sickness, I'm thinking it is fowl cholera. We have given him duramycin-10( tetracycline hydrochloride) orally with a syringe twice daily for week with to no avail. The symptoms are the same. He acts fairly normal and eats, but the always sounds like he is gurgling. His crow also sound awful. He is separated from the flock, I'm going to give him a quarter of a cc of penicillin hopefully soon. Any other advice?? I appreciate our responses !

if it is fowl chlorea good thing you seprated him from the other chickens because it is spreadable does he have diarrhea not moving weak looking like or is it must his throat. I would give him penicillin untill he seems somewhat better. This problem he has might be able to come back again.

If he has only had this for a couple of days and he is still eating/fairly active it could just be a really bad cold. If the nights are getting chilly you may want to make sure he stays warm, even if that means bringing him in at night.

Last summer my bantams came down with some sort of cold and they sounded HORRID! The tiny little birds were snotty and wheezing so loudly I could hear it from 10 ft away, needless to say they were also looking rather pathetic. After a few days they all recovered.
