Black colored dropping

Well it depends on the diet of the bird. I feed mine fresh spinach leaves and so they have darker stool after eating that so guess it depends on the bird. Sorry I cannot be of greater help.
 
Hi,

I feed my birds Purina Game Bird Chow 30% exclusively. Not all the birds have black stools - I put cardboard sheets under my cages to collect the droppings for fertilizer and the cardboard has a few black droppings in it. Also my concern is it safe to use in my veggie garden?

You should compost the droppings before using it on your veggies as the fresh poop is very hot. I accidentally used fresh poop on my young fruit trees with no ill effect but I read that it is a big no no.

I would guess it's diet related. My chickens had turquoise droppings at one point this summer and I was alarmed until I remembered that 1/2 purple head of cabbage they got the day before....
