I found a pic quick on Google to show you what I mean, but we only have one receptacle so it would run from the one screw clap to the other

I got the msg from ebay, my eggs have shipped. Delivery estimate between wed-fri. If they eggs are "old" when they get here, is there any chance of a hatch rate? Assuming they were laid over the weekend (which is most likely.) any tips for "settling" when they get here, before they go in the incubator? What's the best way to get shipped eggs to have the most success rate?

I don't know how to explain it. I will get a pic of it later I gotta do school work.

I've never wired a receptacle to any of my thermostats before. My thermostats only control my heat source and nothing else.

Mike already gave you the link. Let them settle air cell up for 24 hrs before putting them in the incubator. When you unwrap them do so gently so as not to shake them up even more.

Planning to set our first eggs ever tomorrow. I'm kind of freaking out.

We're using the Brinsea Mini Advance with 3 Lav Ameraucana, 3 B/B Ameraucana, and one Olive Egger egg (all obtained locally).

I've had the incubator up and running and cross checked the temp, which seems to be spot on. I've ordered a hygrometer that should be here tomorrow so I can double check the humidity.

Questions:

The pointy end should go INWARD toward the water reservoir, correct?

I tried candling the eggs to see the air cell, but all I see is a slightly darker mass that I'm assuming is the yolk (except the OE egg, which looks completely dark??). Is it normal not to see a clear air cell yet? Also, the eggs (again, except the OE) look very porous. Will this cause any issue or mean that there's anything I should adjust?

Thanks for the hand holding ;)

I don't know if I am doing everything right my self or not but here we go my eggs arnt anywhere of near hatching yet but i received the eggs candled and set them all upright and set the eggs wih good air cells that night then I set the other eggs with the damaged air cells the next day I don't know what time. And I have been turning the ones with the damaged air cells in the incubator in there little egg carton and the ones that are able to be laying on there side every 4 hours and then I set my timer right after I turn and the when the timer goes off ands it not quite to the point where I am ready to go to bed I wish til I am and turn them then for the last time of the day. And then turn as soon as I wake up. I have the humidity set at 52 I believe and temp at 37.6 since with the thermostat and the incubator arnt right I set the temp in between. so the eggs get turned around 4 to 5 times a day cause I usually wake to let the chickens out at 8:00-8:30. And he hatch rate will be lowered dramatically shipping.

I read this... so my incubator doesn't have a way to position the eggs on anything but their side.

If you see the eggs in there? I marked them X and O, and just rotated them around, are they supposed to be completely upright during the incubation process? The one egg that looked viable the whole time, is the one that hatched with the method I was using. (manually turning them on their sides and rolling them around in there, but not upright.)

Reading through the shipped eggs process, I get that I'm supposed to let the eggs settle for 6-24 hours. (The shipper recommended 8-12 hours.)

I'm worried about handling them too much but also don't want to completely waste my time on non-viable eggs. The big eggs, have what looked like a movable air cell (which is probably why they didn't develop) since the kids fought over bringing the eggs in and shook them around, a lot when bringing them in. I'll be throwing the big eggs out today, (after one last candle to make sure they aren't viable) and giving that tiny egg in there, one more chance. IT had a good air cell when we went into lock down, but nothing's happened. I can give it another day or two... but then need to prepare the incubator for the next batch.

I'm just sort of torn on if how I handled my first batch, will even be feasible with a shipped batch. This shipper had really good feedback on how she packages her eggs, so i'm crossing my fingers.

The only other problem I have, with my incubator, is it doesn't like to stay between 40-50% humidity, It likes 30-35% and 70-75% LOL And it jumps around A LOT because of how humid texas is and it's a constant battle, based on our weather to keep the incubator stable humidity wise. Temp's stable/easy to keep safe. If I add even 3 drops of water, it will jump to like 60% humidity for a few hours until the water dries out, then drops back down to 35% so tricks like sponges or wet clothes, has too much water, and made my humidity jump to 90% - which is why I was adding like 3 drops of water per day, in the morning/evening, trying to keep the humidity around 40-50% pre lock down.

I posted a pic above this reply, showing how I was turning my eggs.
