Do you have a seperate checked thermometer to be sure of temp with? 101-102 will get the job done.Amy thanks for Being so helpful I bet all my questions are pretty annoying but I do have one more I got my new incubator and it won't go to 101.5 I can get 102 and 101 just not the .5 part will that be okay cuz I'm running it at 102 ( it is still aired)
I have the 9200 I just barely wiggle it- I don't even turn it cause it is dangerous....lolI'd just run it at 101. I'm sorry, which model did you have? If its the 9300, you might just have to live with 101 (but you should easily be able to get that .5 degree). If its the 9200, with the weird stick dial you turn to raise or lower the temp, it really helps to use a small screw to attach a milk cap to that dial. It makes minor adjustments SO much easier. Before the milk cap was added, I had a tendency to accidentally turn it too far one way or the other, which made fiddling with it for several days absolutely necessary. Now I set it and run it for a few days just to make sure it'll stay steady.
Has the one inside been checked for accuracy? The thermometer and hygrometer on my incubator don't read the same as the one on the inside which should I trust
The best way is to get a glass thermometer (the normal outside kind will do). Half fill a glass with ice add water and let sit a couple minutes before putting the thermometer in the ice water. It should read 32F if it is correct. Once you know that is correct (or how far off it is) you can check all others against it by placing them in the bator side by side and comparing. Generally I trust the individual ones more than the bator gages (unless it's a Brinsea or R-COM), but to be sure one of them needs to be tested or you're just winging it. I use two therms in my bator at least and if they start showing a difference I start investigating. How do u do that, I put one in ice water to Bring it down
