Hog Panel Fencing Costs?

No, I think if we lived somewhere else we might have done that but our property is flat and low and we have a heavy clay soil so drainage can be a problem, especially after heavy rains (which we have had plenty of this last year). Boards on the bottom would just rot and interfere with drainage. We did dig a shallow trench and bury the bottom few inches of the stock panels in the dirt which helps stabilize the panels and keeps my dogs from easily digging out. That is the only good thing about a heavy clay soil, when it is wet it is very dense & slippery, when it is dry it is like concrete. Even the younger dogs give up after a while. If you have a looser, sandier soil, it would probably be better to use a board or something at the bottom. We used a level on the top rail to keep things as even as possible.
