The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I agree with DD - doubt I could keep my hands from shaking to feed those tiny ones. Great pic.

Their little heads would be bobbin' around with my shaky hands.

Good morning!

Teila, it sounds like you'll have a great break with going to see you friend. It does a person a lot of good to have a good laugh and a chat.

J, keep us posted on the cyclone watch. That picture of the tiny feeding off his fork tine is amazing!

Bunny, you'll have to let us know what transpires with adventures in fondant, lol.

Blooie, if you lived any closer to us I'd definitely hire you!

Gotta run, just a couple more threads to catch up on then off to get ready for work.

I hope you all have a great day!

Quick update. We've been through the mill. I had 5 then one died, then one hatched, now it looks like he likely won't make it either. I'm glad that I know more about the incubator's behavior but it's so frustrating to see these sweet little fluff puffs die. The first 4 are doing great and growing like weeds. Still grateful for that. They all run in a pack. They run out from under the mama brooder and eat and drink then one will head toward the heat and they all run back together.

It isn't unusual to lose some quail chicks. Every time we've hatched we've lost one or two. So don't beat yourself up. They are cute aren't they!?

Debby, hope that today provides no major surprises.

So far, so good Sour! The cook and I finalized the menu and went over some procedure stuff. I now have the initial shopping list, probably take a moving van to get it all back to the restaurant. One fun thing from this morning...we've hooked back up with the spice merchant we used to use for our shop in Key West, they're fabulous and I'm really glad to be working with them again.

Wish you all could be here Saturday for the season opening!

Dawn, so sorry to hear of the loss. Don't give up, every hatch you do will go smoother and probably produce more babies.

Good morning folks

Looking at the coop this morning you would have thought that a chicken exploded; just one because all the feathers were same, Crystal’s. It will never cease to amaze me how they can lose so many feathers and look no different; she has no bald patches [yet].

I got woken by the girls this morning; they were still in the coop but lots of growling and alarmed cluck, cluck, clucks. So I raced outside. When I opened the door nearest the roost, the front gals were craning their necks to see out the door. I followed their sight line and right next to me, hiding under a palm plant and pot was over the road’s cat! I will not dust off the soap box and once again voice my opinion on this but shall just go with

Bunnylady love the monster-in-the-making pic! Was there an end result that you can share with us?

J I saw on the news this morning that TC Cook is heading straight for NZ .. you are in my thoughts and please stay safe. Wow, so many words to describe that picture .. cute, awesome, incredible, so tiny, such patience on your part. Kudos to you!

Dawn I am sorry to hear about your losses but pleased that you are enjoying the survivors. I hope they continue to thrive.

N F C I wish I could be there on Saturday too! Please share some pics if you can.

Blooie how are your little Silkies doing? Did you get a response from your e.mail yet?

Great news, Debby. Glad the kitchen seems off to a good start. Wish we all could be there, too! What fun that would be.

X2 Dawn, sorry about the tough hatch.

And Teila, good morning!

I just got back from Costco with my dad. He bought me a few things I've been looking for, which is nice. So glad they carry Whisps!

Just a few!!! I think I need to change my avatar to this!

We have heavy rain here at the moment. We've just had heavy showers so far but this lot looks set in. We are getting strong winds tomorrow. We are pretty sheltered where we are so unless the little stream really floods in a big way we should be alright.

FridayYet - I looked up what Whisps were. I am so envious! I LOVE cheese and those things look divine!
