The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Feefer’s at the boarding kennel, clothes, Grand Master’s Lady’s jewel, and GL name tag are packed, I knocked the whiskers off my legs, house is clean, and my ‘Lee Press-On’ smile is in my pocket! The bad thing about getting everything ready so early is now I am fidgeting, wanting to just go and get it over with.

This entire event is much bigger than just the Cornerstone. There are guest speakers, special events, music, grand tours, and just about every other kind of hoopla to be expected when something this big is planned. The Cornerstone doesn’t even take place until 5:30. Tomorrow is also the 150th anniversary of the State of Wyoming defying the rest of the states and going the first to give women the right to vote, to own property, to sign contracts, and to hold public office. It’s going to be a very, very long day. We just have a tiny little blurb in the schedule. I guess Ken’s name won’t be on the Cornerstone after all - they are just going to rededicate the original Cornerstone. In all honesty, that kinda bums me out a little. I was hoping to see a Cornerstone that told future generations who the Grand Master was at the time.

The Capitol had fallen into such disrepair that many of the chairs the Legislators used were literally sitting on sand from crumbled concrete and collapsing floors. Loose electrical wires, most still the old kind wrapped in striped fabric, hung from walls and ceilings with no one knowing what they used to power. The State Supreme Court room had, at some time, been poorly chopped into two separate rooms. Tattered wallpaper and chipped paint were the norm. I can’t wait to see it restored to its full glory....glory not seen for at least two generations! I hope they allow photography - security is extra tight because of the dignitaries and of course the significance of the building itself.
