My name is tay, I live in northern Louisiana. I started my flock the beginning of this year with 4 bantams aka "the golden girls", I have since grown to 8 perfectly plump beautiful hens. I have a Delaware-bertha, a rhode island red-gertie, a barred rock-ethel, a buff orpington-henrietta, a red sex link-myrtle, a buff bantam-dorothy, a speckled sussex-mae and last but not least a black cochin bantam-ms.Maggie! I have definitely learned some hard lessons along the way but we have struggled our way through and are now a happy functional coop, for the most part haha. I wish I would have started with backyard chickens a long time ago! I just love them, and it is definitely a serious addiction now lol! Thank you for letting me join BYC! Can't wait to continue to learn!

Hi Tay and a warm welcome to BYC! Hope you enjoy being a member of our flock.

All the best

Hi Tay,

It seems there is always something new to learn about poultry, that's part of the fun of having birds! There are a ton of informative articles in the Learning Center, check it out, if you haven't already:

Glad you joined us. I'm sure you may already know but I think there's a Louisiana thread that you can chat with people closer to you if you ever want anymore (which is definitely going to happen ). There's a Louisianan on the thread I'm on. I know what you mean. I wish I'd joined before I did too.
