I have two new pekin hatchlings!
These little girls are currently on chick starter and I am supplementing with brewer's yeast.

When do (or do I) need to add chick grit?

I bought some but realized the chicks don't really need them unless I am adding additional foods.
Is it the same with the ducks?

Yes, it's the same with ducks. They only need grit if they are eating things other than their pellets (like greens, veggies, etc).

Adults will typically be outside and will find their own grit in the form of sand or tiny rocks. No need to provide them with it, unless they are kept somewhere with no access to soil/dirt. ;)
