Surviving Minnesota!

Our 2.5 weekers. The silver wyandottes seem to be the slowest to feather out. Even the Golden Wyandottes have feathered out way more than the silver.

Our laying flock the Bovans are 16 weeks. The white Roos are the Bovans roosters. We got the free. We have some mix breeds too.

This mix looks similar to a blue copper Maran. But I am sure it is just some mix. I could be wrong.

These two are from the mix breeds and are 12 weeks approximately. The white one I think is going to be a rooster. Not sure what the blue one is, thinking hen. But not even sure what breeds are mixed in it.

This black one I hope is going to give us colored eggs.

Our Cornish Crosses

Our LGD Yeti. He is a great Pyrenese and about 8.5 months old. He helps catch the chickens with us. Only ever uses his nose the push them to the ground never opens his mouth.

Our three horses. The closest two are Lippitt Morgans. And the one hiding in back is an old QH.

There is another dog and plenty of cats running around our yard too. It can be a busy place, especially when you throw in the 5 kids running around.

Tomatoes slowed up . Not enough to can this picking . Cucumber vines are dying . Okra is blooming . Most of you probably do not know okra . It is not commonly grown here . More southern garden crop . Summer squash still producing . Pumpkins doing great .

I know okra!!! I tried it once and never got the slimy taste out mouth. It normally takes 4 beers or 3 mikes to get the taste of that one time out of my mouth... Next you will tell us about your boiled peanuts....

I saw a documentary last night and have been obsessed with it today. On monogenic diabetes. I have friends with children who have type 1 diabetes. Who, essentially, their lives could be changed with 1 genetic test. They even showed adults with Type 1 getting tested and they've done the conversion to oral medications. Amazing. Okay that's my side track for the day. Anyone with DM Type 1 should check out Monogenic Diabetes with a google.

I Would like to grow them, but I think even here in the banana belt the season might be too short. I have a hard time keeping my Macadamia trees alive on the chillier days.
