Well the answer is 5... 5 full loaders of chicken litter scooped today! look at that pile of shi..... stuff

It is actually suprisingly nice out! After shoveling poo i took my dogs for a nice hike in the snow. By the time all this was said and done and i came in for late lunch i am drenched in sweat. hard to dress well for physical labor in the cold. I also spent some time hanging with my chickens

Check out Betty White and her flockmates getting it done in the dust today. I need to get some fresh tubes of sand and set up a dust pit for my other coop. with the wet start to winter their sand pile is froze solid.

And finally for some cuteness, my dear wife forgot her lunch bag this morning (she didnt take the holiday off) so i sent her this picture of our pooches 'holding it hostage' :)
That is pile of poo. Super funny about the lunch bag, bet she loved the photo, but not so much not having a lunch today!

Someone or someones here on this thread said something ages ago about buying a bag of organic was it peat moss? or something like that from menards for the girls. Was that for dust bathing or something else or am I totally not remembering things correctly at all?

And who uses those pinless peepers? Can you tell me more about them? They are for feather picking right? Trying to figure things out in the coop. Spent some time in there today and I have a serious feather picking problem. Now to figure out why is my next adventure. All I want is a happy healthy coop. I feel like I am failing the birds when I see them doing things like this.
Yes, I use organic peat moss from Menards or Fleet Farm. Might be hard to come by now at this time of year, I stock up in the fall. my girls were all over it today!

Yes, I've used pinless peepers for feather picking. My Cluck-Cluck is a terrible feather picker. I was hoping she would out grow it. I took her peepers off a couple of months ago, but she may be starting up again, they may have to go back on. :( we'll see, terrible habit. My Fi had to wear them awhile last year when mother was molting, but she seems to be fine now.
The pinless peepers go in the nostrils, just sit in there. regular peepers used for pheasants, there is a bar that goes through, no good.

Pinless peepers

Here was cluc- cluck and Fi with their peepers:

Funny, I think she just didn't know what was going on and was scared and needed comforting. She'll be better once she knows where to go and lay her egg in safety. Then she won't want you touching her, lol
