Surviving Minnesota!

Morning..
The radio went well. They said when the time was arranged I would only get 20 minutes of air time. The booking guy, said they rarely keep anyone longer than that, as they then take calls from listeners...

When the 20 minutes was up they asked me if I wanted to take calls from listeners, I did, so I stayed the entire hour.

EJB:
The issues are really localized in the district. The district is so large the concerns vary. In Wright county, the I94 addition/St. Cloud by pass is a big thing. In Southern Sherburne county it is the closing of the power plant in Becker. In rural Sherburne and Benton county it is Farm issues, In NW Benton county it is irrigation, water shed and the DNR. In Morrison county it is Ditching I hear about most.

In all the areas Schools and education is important, Taxes and spending and refugee resettlement and immigration issues. When I am not out politicking I am studying the issues and looking for workable solutions we can implement on the state/district level.

Then, of course, for me it is what to do with spoiled rotten chickens! My old grinder went kaput. So I got a new one, the birds do not like the grind the new one makes, it is too fine for they spoiled little tastes. They cannot pick out the big pieces and force me to throw the fines away.

They will be starving before I change grinders for them. Of course, they eat enough eggs to keep from starving too soon.....

SPOILED CHICKENS FOR SALE!!! do not expect any eggs from them. You will get egg shells daily though.
:clap

Ralphie you should really give my secret egg eating cure a try . It is secret because some will not approve . :)

I am getting close to that point...and if I decide the violators will never be shown again, I will.

Judges frown on your technique... The ceramic eggs work somewhat, but if I did your thing I am sure it would help even more.

I am going to give your way a try. I don't want to but my best Buckeye gen is eating eggs and I hate to cull her.

I had a Rhode Island Red cockerel that was eating his mate's eggs. A ceramic egg in the nest box fixed him. I barely had the egg in the box and he was after it, he pecked the egg so hard I thought I saw his beak shift a bit. Pecked a 2nd time and then proceeded to kick the egg out of the nest box. I put it back in the nest box, he has not touched his mates eggs ever again. In fact 3 of his offspring went into the hatcher last night with the lone toad.

A ceramic egg tip.....Do NOT drop them on cement. I bought white eggs and put purple smiley faces on them. It is prety easy to decipher when you have mostly brown egg layers.

Ralphie, it seems that you have many things to be concerned about in the district you are running in.
I suspect that once the birds can get out and range the egg eating will slow way down. Confined birds easily develop bad habits. In part due to boredom I believe.
this talk about Jerry's method is intriguing. I suspect that Banty is in the right area but has the wrong technique identified ?
The sun has come out and it is above zero. Things are definitely on the upswing. Soon Spring Training will start, and we can cheer on our Minnesota Twins!

Question. How do I find out about swaps in this area for 2018? ( southeastern Minnesota) I will have some very nice Icelandics this year and hatching eggs and would love to participate in a couple this year. Thanks! :)
