So I’m cleaning and cleaning this coop and making plans to replace the floor this summer and the bf mentioned maybe using epoxy paint (think garages and basements) on it for ease of cleaning. Ever heard of this?
What’s the best bedding for chickens? Old owners had straw and leaf litter mix.
Do I need ‘doors’ on my nesting boxes?
What else can I improve while I have no occupants? We are already fixing broken glass in windows, adding vents for the winter, cleaning/disinfecting, and re-configuring the roosts somehow.
The long plank is the front for the lower nesting boxes, the big stick was just laying in front of the door.

Those chunks of siding that swing in the opening of each nesting box. More curious as to what they do for the chickens.I use pine shavings, and I've never had a reason to change. Doors? What does that mean?
Jeesh! That's going to be nice! Insulated too? I'd get rid of the pink I guess...But other than that a nice roost, Poop collection/removal ideas. That's really a nice space for your birds.
Oh, sorry. The images hadn't loaded for me.Those chunks of siding that swing in the opening of each nesting box. More curious as to what they do for the chickens.
Yes! The pink will go this summer. At least the coop half of the shed is insulated. I may be pushing to turn the other half into coop space eventually here...or maybe make a suite for DUX.
Thank you for the input, just know people who have had birds for quite some time are more likely to notice something I may be missing.
