Surviving Minnesota!

A spring green . The ostrich fern grows everywhere at the lake . Early May is time to pick up there. Pick when still tightly rolled as pictured . There is a red/brown film or skin to removed as it tastes not so good . Boil or stem and add butter . Many wild greens for those of us who can not grow spinach well . My season is iffy for spinach . Your season is probably impossible . Not enough heat units before the end of may . Spinach goes to seed triggered by day length .

Ah okay! Maybe I’ll have to read more and see if I can’t find any on our property. Still no idea what grows on this property. We have myths of raspberry bushes in the woods, fenced off trees that may be fruit bearing...Spring is going to be like Christmas out there!

On a sad note, the chicks are all delayed until next week. Hopefully the single digit weather forecast goes away and doesn’t prevent shipment of them. :hmm

Hey Holms. Here's another cow pic for ya.
Hubby loves the white face on that one in the front :)
