3 different breeds, Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Reds, and Black Stars. They are all using the roosting bar at night wondering when I should begin to put hay in the nesting boxes with plastic eggs they are 15 weeks now. Will they go to the nesting boxes after they wake up and that's when they begin to lay eggs?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. With your pullets being 15 weeks old, I would already prepare the nesting boxes for them. When they are getting ready to lay, they will begin squatting in the nesting boxes. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

I would also get the boxes prepared now, it will give your girls a chance to check them out and get used to them. You have some nice breeds for egg laying.

Good luck with your flock and thanks for joining us!

Thanks for all the advice the girls are now in full production, on average I get 17 eggs a day with 18 hens!!! They love the laying boxes, all is going wonderfully.
