Were ur hens ands roo closely related generations of inbreeding can cause high mortality rate if ur hen is still brooding then u could slip some chicks under her at night she will think they are hers
So sorry but that happens.... Hope you get better luck next time! Sometime it's not even her fault, it might be a baterial infection that infected all the eggs.... I had a broody that had no luck with her first clutch and hatched all of her second clutch!
they're not closely related, the hen hatched this May, she's a New Hamshire and the roo is an Australorp. I always wondered if she was actually turning them or not - it being her first broodiness.. (if that's the right word)
